Walk Over The River

A boon for some, a bind for others, is the regular closure of the Chain Bridge (aka Széchenyi lánchíd) every summer weekend. I think it started last year and it seems to have proven popular enough to carry on (popular with pedestrians at least). The closure means traffic has to be detoured to the other bridges to cross the river, but c'mon, it's not too bad.

Read moreOf course, it's a very touristy thing to do but sometimes it feels good to be a tourist and go with the herd. When I walked over the river this Sunday, there were bands at both ends but most people seemed to be concentrating on old games and puzzles.


This woman was doing quite a good job of not falling flat on her face while hobbling about on stilts.



This bloke on the other hand was embarrasing his kids by riding the wild barrel.



Not quite a PS2 or Xbox but at least playing with the hoops keeps them away from the old man.



It started off with shuffleboard, then progressed to arcade racing games then weird Japanese dance contests.



They probably had stick twirlers back in medieval times but they were all burnt at the stake for being witches.
